APRIL 28- Your journey begins as you depart DFW Airport on your international flight.
APRIL 29- You will be welcomed to Athens by our representative and taken to your hotel where you will have dinner and overnight.
APRIL 30- Today the road will take you through Greek countryside up 1800 ft. to Delphi, the most spectacularly beautiful ancient site in Greece. Regarded as the center of the world, believers came for 14 centuries to hear its oracle. You will take the Sacred Way to the Athenian Treasury, the Temple of Apollo, the Theatre, etc. You’ll also visit the Museum where, among other treasures, you ill see the unique bronze charioteer. After your visit in Delphi, you will drive to Meteora. Dinner and overnight will be in Kalambaka.
MAY 1 - Today you will visit Meteora in Western Thessaly, where world-famous Byzantine monasteries perch precariously atop rock formations of varied and beautiful shapes. You will visit two of the monasteries hanging in the air. Afterwards there will be some time for shopping in the village near the monasteries. Dinner and overnight will be in Kalambaka.
MAY 2 - Today you will drive from Kalambaka to Corinth. In Paul’s time ships were dragged overland on rollers. In the ancient city of Corinth where Paul visited three times and established a vigorous church, you will visit the Archeological Museum, and the Temples. In the center of the Agora is the raised tribunal-the Bema- where Paul was brought before the Roman governor. After your visit in Corinth, you will travel to the attractive city of Nafplio with its narrow streets lined with charming old homes for dinner and overnight.
MAY 3 – Today we will visit Epidauros which was once a religious center and fashionable spa dedicated to the cult of Asklepios and the cure of his disciples. There were dwellings for the priest-physicians, hospitals for the sick, sanatoria for the convalescents and hotels and places of amusement for the healthy. Its Theatre is the best preserved in all Greece, its acoustics being particularly perfect. You will travel to Mycenae, a city which Homer call ‘rich in gold’ and has provided one of the richest archeological discoveries ever made. You can see the beehive tomb of Agamemnon, the famous Lion Gate and the Acropolis. You will return to the hotel in Nafplio for dinner and overnight.
MAY 4 - Today you will pass the famous Corinth Canal on your way to Athens. You will explore the city of Athens as Paul did, visiting the world-renowned Acropolis and the ruins of the Parthenon, Erectheum and Propylaea, still one of the most splendid monuments of ancient Greece. You will ascend Mars Hill where Paul preached under the shadow of pagan temples. From there you look down on the Agora, the ancient market place where Paul disputed with the philosophers. You will see today’s Athens with its House of Parliament, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Palace. Dinner and overnight will be in Athens.
MAY 5 - This morning you will board a ship in the Port of Piraeus. It was here that Paul would have joined the sailors eagerly looking for the gilded point of the spear of Athens, whose statue once stood on the Athenian Acropolis. In the evening you will arrive at the Island of Mykonos with its celebrated windmills and picturesque houses.
MAY 6 - This morning you will arrive in Kusadasi, Turkey and journey on to Ephesus, the center of emperor worship, and (due to the work of Paul and John,) the center of Christianity in Asia Minor. You will also visit the ruins of St. John’s Basilica where, tradition tells us, the beloved disciple was buried. You will also see the Temple of Diana (Artemis), one of the seven wonders of the ancient World. You will sail to Patmos for a visit to the Monastery of St. John and Grotto where John wrote the Book of Revelation.
MAY 7 - Today you will visit the Island of Rhodes. As Paul’s ship sailed into the harbor he would have seen the remains of one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world—Colossus, a huge brazen statue of Apollo so high that ships passed in full sail between its legs. The Rhodians tell how Silas healed a paralytic hero on a visit to this island.
MAY 8 – This morning you will visit the Island of Crete. You will have the morning to explore Heraklion, the capital of Crete. This afternoon you will cruise to Santorini, perhaps the most breathtaking of all the Greek Islands.
MAY 9 – Today you will disembark after breakfast and visit the National Archaeological Museum, one of the many extraordinary museums that Athens has to offer: You will have the afternoon free to visit another museum or finish shopping and packing before our Farewell Dinner at the hotel.
MAY 10 - You will and transfer to the airport for you international flight and return to your homes with a new understanding of the culture and history of Greece as well as Paul, the Missionary.
